In 2005, I went to France with a group of UArts students to attend the Annecy Festival and conduct the first workshop at the Atelier d'Animation d'Annecy (AAA), thanks to the generosity of Nicole Salomon and her welcoming team.

About 11 students came on the trip, with four participating in the workshop itself. Because this was our first try, things were a bit rough around the edges, but it was intense, magical, and also the year where we made the most connection with our hosts.

We spent three days animating feverishly and then showing our bits of animation to the AAA members. They invited us to a wonderful picnic on Mont Semnoz, and Taylor went for a hike with a couple of my French friends. Most importantly, I met Claire Fouquet and we planned a joint project for 2006 with students from her school.
